Background
The VisitROC app was underutilized due to its inadequate navigation system and outdated UI design, leading to user frustration and hindering the exploration of Rochester. Our analysis identified a need for a clearer, more engaging user interface, personalized features, and a streamlined navigation system to enhance the overall user experience and utility of the app.
Proposed Solution
Motivated by these challenges, our team set out to overhaul the VisitRoc app. Our goal was to create an inviting, user-friendly, and efficient mobile experience that accurately reflects the vibrant spirit of Rochester. We aimed to design an app that not only guides users through the city's scenic routes and attractions but also encourages exploration and discovery.
User Research Summary
To understand the challenges faced by residents, Tourists, and students studying in Rochester and identify the key features needed in an app to help to roam around the beautiful city of Rochester
Methodology:
A diverse group of participants including residents, Tourists, and students were interviewed. They provided insights into their daily challenges, needs, and the functionalities they look for in the Existing VisitROC mobile app.
As part of our methodology, we conducted task-based usability testing to gather valuable insights from users. During the testing, we asked participants to carry out specific tasks within the VisitROC app while closely observing their interactions and collecting feedback.
The tasks included:
Onboarding the App
Selecting a Place to Visit
Mapping a Route
Finding Event/Location Details
Using the plan and challenges section of the App

Wireframes
During the sketching process, we focused on enhancing the app's navigation system, improving the onboarding experience, and providing a clear and intuitive user interface. We also explored different ways to incorporate personalized features, such as a profile page to keep track of visited places, and a revamped challenges and my plan section that is easier to understand.
